A two-year PGPM or PGPM-HR at IIM Tiruchirappalli costs Rs. 19.5 Lakh in tuition and about Rs. 21.24 Lakh once the caution deposit and mess advance are included, so financial aid is an important part of planning. The Institute and the Government of India both support eligible students. Candidates should apply for these schemes as soon as they accept an offer, as each has its own deadline and documentation.

Scholarships and Financial Aid at IIM Tiruchirappalli
Academic Fee Waiver Scheme
The Academic Fee Waiver Scheme was introduced in the academic year 2025-26 and applies to 2 percent of the students who register for the PGPM and PGPM-HR programmes. It grants a 50 percent waiver of academic fees to financially needy students, who are selected according to criteria set by the Institute. The waiver applies to tuition only, so deposits and mess advance remain payable.
Government of India scholarships
- Top Class Scholarship Scheme for ST students, administered through the National Scholarship Portal
- Central Sector Scholarship of Top Class Education for SC students
- Scholarship for students with disabilities under the Central Sector Scheme
- Merit-cum-Means Scholarship for students of notified minority communities
- PM-YASASVI scheme for OBC, EBC and DNT students
Amounts, income ceilings and renewal conditions are set by the respective ministries and can change every year. Applicants should read the guidelines on the National Scholarship Portal and confirm with the Institute which schemes are currently open to its students.
Education loans are another route. Candidates can borrow from any national bank, and the PGPBM office advises that educational loans may be availed from national banks. The course fee for PGPM is paid in six terms, which makes it easier to align loan disbursements with term-start dates. Tuition for the doctoral programme is supported by an Institute fellowship rather than by fees, and the Institute has a separate admission notice for the fellowship terms.
Students who plan to use a loan should work out the full cost, not just tuition. For PGPM the per-year payable amount is Rs. 10,77,000 in Year 1 and Rs. 10,47,000 in Year 2, including mess advance and deposit. The Rs. 30,000 caution deposit is returned at the end of the programme, subject to adjustment, and unused mess advance is settled against the actual bill. Planning around these figures helps avoid a gap in the first term, when the acceptance fee and Term I payments fall due close together.
Compare aid with the fee structure and see eligibility on the admission page.
