About Sarojini Naidu Medical College, Agra
Sarojini Naidu Medical College (SNMC), Agra, is one of the oldest and most prestigious government medical colleges in India. Originally established in 1854 as the Thomson Medical School during British rule to train doctors for the Indian Army and public health services, it was upgraded to a full-fledged medical college in 1939. In 1947, it was renamed after Bharat Kokila Smt. Sarojini Naidu, the celebrated poet, freedom fighter, and the first woman Governor of Uttar Pradesh. The college is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the General Medical Council (GMC) of Great Britain. It is affiliated to Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, Lucknow. In 2014, the Government of India selected SNMC for upgrade under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) Phase-3, with the Central Government bearing 80% and the State Government 20% of costs. The college motto is 'Live to Serve' and it continues to be a leading centre for medical education and tertiary healthcare in western Uttar Pradesh.

Central Library
The Central Library is located at the heart of the college campus and is one of the original structures dating back to 1854. It houses a large collection of medical textbooks, journals, and digital resources. The reading room is open 361 days a year. The library supports both undergraduate and postgraduate research needs.

The college campus provides recreational and sports facilities for students, including outdoor sports grounds. Students participate in inter-college and university sports events.

The college is spread over 24.49 acres with all major infrastructure within the campus, including the teaching hospital, hostels, lecture theatres, library, and administrative buildings.

Lecture Theatres & Classrooms
The college has 5 lecture theatres (LT 1 to LT 5). Two are air-conditioned; LT 1 has a seating capacity of 418 persons and doubles as an auditorium for cultural and institutional programmes. LT 2 and LT 3 each seat 260 persons; LT 4 seats 275 and LT 5 seats 130 persons. LTs are equipped with audio-visual aids and modern teaching tools.

Hostel
Separate hostel facilities are available for boys and girls on campus. Annual hostel fee ranges from ₹5,000 to ₹7,000. Hostel rules and regulations are published by the UG Hostel Committee. The hostels are within walking distance of the main college building and hospital.

Laboratory
Well-equipped laboratories across all pre-clinical and para-clinical departments including Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, and Pharmacology. The college supports biomedical research programmes including human subjects research.
