Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh, is one of India's premier central government medical colleges, established in 1962 as a constituent college of the historic Aligarh Muslim University — an Institute of National Importance (INA) and NAAC Grade A+ university. NIRF 2024 Medical Rank: 27. India Today 2024: 3rd in UP, 17th in India. The only medical college in Aligarh, with 26 clinical departments, 240+ faculty members, and a 1,270-bed teaching hospital (JNMCH) providing affordable tertiary care to patients from western UP and adjoining states. JNMC offers 150 MBBS seats, 176 PG seats (MD/MS in 22 disciplines), and DM/MCh super-specialty, BDS, B.Sc Nursing, and PhD programmes. MBBS admission quotas: AIQ (15%), AMU Internal Quota (50% for AMU school students), Open Quota (35% for all NEET-qualified candidates), and NRI Quota. The biggest advantage: 50% of PG seats (110 MD/MS seats) at AMU have NO caste reservation for Internal MBBS graduates — a major reason students choose JNMC over AIIMS tier-2 colleges.
