Indian Institute of Information Technology Bhopal (IIIT Bhopal) is a Not-for-Profit Public-Private Partnership (N-PPP) Institute of National Importance, established in 2017 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The institute is a joint venture of the Ministry of Education (50%), the Government of Madhya Pradesh (35%), and Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV), Bhopal (15%). Under the directorship of Prof. Dr. Ashutosh Kumar Singh, IIIT Bhopal is committed to cultivating advanced knowledge in information technology and providing globally standard manpower to the IT and related sectors. Currently, IIIT Bhopal operates from the campus of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal, which provides an excellent academic ecosystem with established infrastructure and facilities. A permanent 60-acre campus has been identified and is under development. Students benefit from access to MANIT's facilities including sports grounds (cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, badminton), banking facilities, dispensary, cafeteria, and the Nescafe outlet. IIIT Bhopal offers a comprehensive range of nine B.Tech programmes: Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), CSE with Artificial Intelligence, CSE with Data Science, CSE with Cyber Security, CSE with Cyber Physical Systems, Information Technology (IT), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Physics and Computational Engineering (PCE, new from 2025-26), and Data and Mathematical Science (DMS, new from 2025-26). This makes it one of the most diverse IIITs in terms of BTech specialisations. The total JoSAA 2025 seat intake is 705 seats across six core branches: CSE (180), IT (81), ECE (100), Cyber Security (60), Data Science (28), and Cyber Physical Systems (29), plus new 2025-26 programmes. The institute also offers postgraduate programmes including MCA (3-year full-time via NIMCET), M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence, M.Tech in Data Science, and M.Tech in Cyber Physical Systems — both regular/full-time and professional/part-time formats. First-year hostel facilities are provided at RGPV Bhopal, BHEL Bhopal, and NITTTR Bhopal campuses. Placement outcomes at IIIT Bhopal have shown remarkable growth. In 2025, 126 students were placed out of 147 eligible (85.71% placement rate), with an average package of Rs. 16.77 LPA and highest package of Rs. 85 LPA (offered by Atlassian). In 2024, the placement rate was 60% with highest Rs. 34.4 LPA and average Rs. 12.33 LPA. Top recruiters include Atlassian, Microsoft (Rs. 51 LPA), CRED (Rs. 45 LPA), PayPal, Amazon, LinkedIn, Intuit, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Commvault, Synopsys, and Delhivery. CSE and IT branches consistently lead placement outcomes. The average package of CSE in 2025 is approximately Rs. 18.23 LPA, and ECE average was Rs. 15.41 LPA in 2025. Student clubs at IIIT Bhopal include Google Developer Student Club (GDSC), CODAME, Kratigence, HARFBAZ (Quizzing Club), and various technical and cultural societies. The institute is located in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh — a well-connected central Indian city with Raja Bhoj International Airport (17 km away) and excellent rail connectivity (Bhopal Main Station 12 km, Rani Kamlapati Station 6 km).
