The Government Medical College Hospital, Idukki, is the attached teaching hospital with 300+ beds. It offers clinical services across Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and other specialties — providing real-time patient-care exposure for MBBS students.
As of 2025–26, GMC Idukki offers only the MBBS undergraduate programme. PG courses (MD/MS) have not yet been introduced. The college is still in its developmental phase, having commenced full MBBS batches only in 2022.
Yes. The National Medical Commission (NMC) granted recognition for 100 MBBS seats in 2022. The first batch of 100 students commenced classes on November 15, 2022. Previously, the college had its MCI accreditation withdrawn in 2017 due to infrastructure gaps, which were subsequently resolved by the Government of Kerala.
GMC Idukki has 100 MBBS seats per year — 85 under Kerala State Quota (via CEE Kerala) and 15 under All India Quota (via MCC). There is no management or NRI quota.
