The MBA programme is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, which is important for students who plan to use the degree for jobs, further studies or education loans. BIM is also ISO 21001:2018 certified, a standard for management systems in educational organisations, which indicates that its academic processes are documented and audited.
BIM has a distinctive institutional standing. It is an autonomous School of Excellence of Bharathidasan University, governed by a separate Board of Governors and registered under the Society Registration Act. This status is described as the first of its kind incorporated into a university's statute in India, at the initiative of the UGC. The Hon'ble Governor of Tamil Nadu serves as its Patron-in-Chief, and the institute was founded in partnership with BHEL, a major public sector enterprise.
International and government partnerships add to the standing. BIM has a student exchange partnership with the Rennes School of Business in France, a triple-crowned institution accredited by AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS, and it is an Academic Partner of the Government of Tamil Nadu, where it runs the Chief Minister's two-year Fellowship Programme and several executive programmes. More than 4,500 alumni working worldwide act as another measure of long-term impact.
Rankings matter mostly for placements and for the brand value of the degree. In 2023-24, 112 of 118 graduating students were placed with a median salary of Rs. 10 lakh, which supports the institute's reputation among recruiters. The placement details are available on the placements and careers page.
Students comparing BIM with other B-Schools should also consider fees, specialisations and the residential format. The fee for the 2026-28 batch is explained on the fee structure page.
The selection steps for the MBA are described on the admission process page.
