All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Mangalagiri is a premier Central Government autonomous medical institution established under Phase-IV of the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), approved by the Union Cabinet in October 2015 at an estimated cost of ₹1,618 crore. It is declared an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament (1956). The institute commenced academic operations in August 2018 from a temporary campus at Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada, and shifted to its permanent 183-acre state-of-the-art campus in Mangalagiri, Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh — with the first permanent campus batch in 2020-21. The OPD started in March 2019 and IPD in January 2021. AIIMS Mangalagiri offers MBBS (125 seats), B.Sc Nursing (50 seats), MD/MS postgraduate programs, DM, M.Ch, PDCC, Ph.D., and Allied Health Sciences courses. The 960+ bed multi-specialty teaching hospital serves patients from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu across 43 departments, with 24 operation theatres, modern ICU, and advanced diagnostic facilities. The institute is governed by its own Board of Governors with Dr. Ahanthem Santa Singh as Executive Director and Maj Gen (Dr) Tapan Kumar Saha as President.
