Important Cutoff Insights

The B.Sc. (Hons.) group (Anthropology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Geology, Physics, and Physics with Electronics) shares one combined merit list — closing marks shown are the loosest figure across the whole group.

B.Pharm. runs on its own separate merit list, so its closing marks are specific to B.Pharm. alone.

Defence quota fills in strict sub-category priority order (D1 → D2 → D4 → D5), which can pull the overall closing mark much lower than other categories.

General, PwD, and Sports category closing marks for some courses are still awaited pending official merit list publication.

About PU-CET (U.G.)

PU-CET (U.G.) is the Common Entrance Test conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh for admission to its undergraduate programmes, including B.Pharm. and the 4-Year B.Sc. (Hons.) programmes under NEP-2020. Unlike state-level exams that feed counselling across many affiliated colleges, PU-CET leads to direct admission at Panjab University itself — there is no separate multi-college counselling round.

  • Eligibility: Class 12th (10+2) pass with the subject combination prescribed for the programme applied to.
  • Merit formula: Total merit marks = CET score weighted at 75% + Class 12th percentage weighted at 25% + applicable weightage (sports/NCC/etc.).
  • Admission process: PU publishes category-wise provisional merit lists, and seats are offered strictly in merit order against the official seat matrix.
  • Reserved categories: General, SC, ST, BC (Not OBC), Defence, PwD, and Sports, plus special quotas such as SGC, Kashmiri, RAS, BAS, Kargil, YF, and NRI/Foreign Nationals (see the seat matrix below).

PU-CET College Predictor FAQs

What is PU-CET (U.G.)?

PU-CET (U.G.) is Panjab University, Chandigarh's Common Entrance Test for undergraduate admissions, used for direct-university programmes such as B.Pharm. and the B.Sc. (Hons.) 4-Year NEP-2020 programmes.

How is the PU-CET merit calculated?

Total merit marks combine the CET score weighted at 75%, the Class 12th percentage weighted at 25%, and any applicable weightage such as sports or NCC quota.

Why do several B.Sc. (Hons.) departments show the same closing marks?

Anthropology, Chemistry, Geology, Physics, Physics (Electronics), Biochemistry, Biotechnology, and Biophysics share one combined, priority-ordered merit list on PU's site. The figure shown is the loosest (last-filled) mark across the whole group — your actual department of choice can close tighter than this.

Are these closing marks official?

No. They are estimated by mapping PU's official seat matrix onto the rank-ordered provisional merit list (Nth seat = Nth rank). PU has not released a round-wise admitted/allotted list, so treat these as provisional until official results are out.

Does the predictor cover PwD and Sports quota?

Not yet — merit list PDFs for PwD and Sports categories haven't been published by PU yet. These will be added as soon as they're available.

What are the SGC, Kashmiri, RAS, BAS, Kargil, YF, and NRI/F.N. quotas?

These are additional special-category seats Panjab University reserves alongside the regular Gen/SC/ST/BC/Defence/PwD/Sports matrix — for Sports Grace Category, Kashmiri migrants, Riasti (residents of erstwhile princely states), border area students, Kargil-affected candidates, Ward of Freedom Fighters, and NRI/Foreign Nationals respectively. Seat counts for these are shown in the seat matrix section below.
