The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) has opened registration for Phase 1 of its Common Online Decentralised Counselling for 2026, aimed at filling seats left vacant after the WBJEE-2026 centralised counselling process concluded. The registration window for Phase 1 opened today, September 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM, and will remain active till September 8, 2026, 11:59 PM, on the official counselling portal linked from wbjeeb.nic.in/wbjee.
WBJEE 2026 Decentralised Counselling: Latest Update
The current process is governed by a Revised Notification (No. WBE/EX-56/2026) issued on September 1, 2026, which supersedes an earlier notification dated August 27, 2026. According to WBJEEB, the decentralised counselling mechanism replaces the earlier system under which individual colleges filled their own vacant seats separately, often requiring candidates to track multiple institution-specific processes. The board has now built a single online platform where eligible candidates can view vacancy information college-wise and stream-wise, submit their choices, track their merit position for each combination, and accept an available seat, all from one portal.
Who Can Register for Phase 1
Candidates are eligible to register for Phase 1 if they hold a valid WBJEE-2026 rank, a valid JEE (Main) 2026 rank, or, where permitted, qualify on the basis of their Class 12 marks under the Higher Secondary Merit Rank route. Notably, candidates who already secured admission through WBJEE-2026's centralised counselling, including Pharmacy admissions, are also permitted to register and seek a different college-stream combination without giving up their existing seat in advance; only once a new admission is confirmed does the earlier seat get automatically released. However, a candidate cannot apply again for the exact combination they are already admitted to.
- West Bengal domiciled WBJEE rank holders eligible for reserved category seats in Government/Private colleges
- West Bengal domiciled candidates eligible for Government college seats on the basis of WBJEE rank
- WBJEE rank holders from outside West Bengal eligible for State university and private/self-financing institution seats
- JEE (Main) rank holders eligible at institutes that accept JEE (Main) scores
- Candidates eligible purely on their Class 12 percentage, as per AICTE norms, for admission to private and self-financing institutions
Registration Fee and Seat Acceptance Fee
| Fee Type | Amount |
|---|---|
| One-time registration fee (non-refundable) | Rs 250 |
| Seat Acceptance Fee (payable on accepting an allotted seat) | Rs 2,000 (refundable/adjustable) |
How the Two-Round Phase Process Works
Each counselling phase under this process runs through two allocation rounds. In Round 1, an Allocation/Selection List is generated from the choices candidates lock during the registration window, and eligible candidates get the opportunity to accept one available combination. Round 2 works on the same locked choices, without any fresh choice filling, and extends the allocation list further down the merit order to include candidates not previously selected, based on whatever vacancies remain. Candidates who are offered a seat but do not accept it within the window lose the chance to be considered for that same combination again during this counselling cycle.
