UPTAC 2026 Round 3: What's Confirmed
UPTAC (Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling) is conducted by AKTU for admission to BTech, BArch, BPharm, MBA and MCA programmes across state and self-financed institutes in Uttar Pradesh. Round 1 allotment was declared on July 18, 2026, followed by Round 2 on July 25, 2026. Round 3 online choice-locking took place from July 27 to 28, 2026, and the seat allotment result for this round was released on July 30, 2026.
Round 3 is not the final round of UPTAC 2026 counselling. Freeze vs Float: What Should You Choose?
After checking the Round 3 result, allotted candidates must choose between two options. Choosing 'Freeze' means accepting the current seat and exiting the counselling process, while 'Float' retains the current seat but keeps the candidate eligible for a possible upgrade in later rounds. Since Round 4 automatically locks floating candidates into the best seat they have held across all rounds, choosing Float does not carry the risk of losing an already-allotted seat, which is why most candidates who have not yet received their first-preference choice continue to Float through Round 3.
Seat Acceptance, Fee and Cutoff
Candidates who receive a new allotment in Round 3, or an upgrade over an earlier round, need to check the exact seat acceptance fee due on their downloaded allotment letter, since the portal tracks and adjusts any fee already paid in a previous round. UP government reservation norms of 27% OBC, 21% SC, 2% ST and 10% EWS, along with horizontal reservations for PwD and women candidates, continue to apply afresh in each round, layered with UP domicile reservation at state-funded institutes.
