Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Telangana, has published the provisional merit list for MBBS and BDS admissions under Management Quota for the academic year 2026-27, uploaded on the university's official website today, September 7, 2026. The list ranks applied candidates by their NEET UG 2026 score and All India Rank, and marks the first formal step in the university's Management Quota admission process, which covers Category B (Management) and Category C (NRI) seats at private unaided medical and dental colleges affiliated to KNRUHS.

Telangana MQ Merit List: Latest Update

According to the notice accompanying the list, candidates who wish to raise a grievance regarding their entry in the merit list must email supporting documents to knrugadmission@gmail.com by 12:00 Noon on September 9, 2026; grievances received after this deadline will not be considered. KNRUHS has stated that the final merit list will be notified only after all grievances raised within the window have been addressed, and that the seat matrix and the notification for web options will follow once the final list is out.

Background: Telangana's Three-Tier Quota System

Telangana's medical and dental admissions run through a three-tier structure administered end-to-end by KNRUHS. Category A, the Competent Authority or Convener Quota, covers all government college seats and roughly half of private college seats, filled through a separate counselling process based on the state merit list published for that quota. The remaining private college seats are split between Category B, the Management Quota, and Category C, the NRI Quota, both of which follow the process this provisional list belongs to. Registration for Management Quota seats opened on August 13, 2026, and closed on August 20, 2026, following a notification released on August 12, on the dedicated portal, tspvtmedadm.tsche.in.

Eligibility Cutoffs and Reservation

To be eligible for Category B and Category C seats, candidates needed to qualify NEET UG 2026 with a minimum of 213 marks, the 50th percentile, for General, UR and EWS candidates; 194 marks, the 45th percentile, for PWD candidates in the General category; and 177 marks, the 40th percentile, for SC, ST, BC and reserved PWD candidates. KNRUHS has clarified that community and special category reservations, which apply in the Convener Quota, do not apply within the Management Quota merit process itself, even though the published list records each candidate's category for reference.

Reservation within Category B works differently depending on the institution. At most private medical and dental colleges affiliated to KNRUHS, 85 percent of Management Quota-B seats are reserved for candidates local to Telangana, with the remaining 15 percent open to merit-based candidates from anywhere in the country, including Telangana candidates. At Neelima Institute of Medical Sciences, affiliated to Anurag University, only 25 percent of Category B seats are reserved for Telangana-local candidates. Category C, the NRI quota, remains open to candidates from across India as well as NRI, PIO, OCI and foreign candidates who specifically opted for the NRI category during registration.

The final merit list will be notified after addressing all grievances, and the seat matrix and notification for web options will be published on the University website only once the final list is out.KNRUHS, Provisional Merit List Notice, September 7, 2026

Fee Structure for Management and NRI Quota Seats

Fee structures for these seats differ sharply from the subsidised Convener Quota. As per the tuition fee notification under G.O.Ms.No. 98, Health, Medical and Family Welfare Department, dated August 7, 2026, Category A seats remain heavily subsidised, while Category B Management seats carry annual fees roughly in the range of Rs 11.5 lakh to Rs 14 lakh, and Category C NRI seats range from about Rs 23 lakh to Rs 25 lakh per year, varying by college. Candidates allotted a seat will need to pay this fee as a demand draft in favour of the college principal at the time of reporting, and admission is liable to automatic cancellation if the fee is not paid within the specified joining period.
