NEET UG Counselling 2026 is the centralized seat allocation process conducted for candidates who qualify the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. Conducted jointly by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) at the central level and State Medical Authorities (DMEs) at the state level, this process controls admissions to over 1,15,000+ MBBS and 28,000+ BDS seats across India.

NEET UG 2026 Counselling Rounds Explained
1Round 1 (MCC AIQ & State DMEs)
Candidates register, pay the refundable security deposit (₹10,000 Govt / ₹2,00,000 Deemed), and lock choice preferences. If allotted, you may either report to join, choose upgradation to Round 2, or take a Free Exit with zero penalty.
2Round 2 (All India & State)
Fresh choice filling is mandatory. Candidates who join their allotted seat in Round 2 can choose to upgrade to Round 3 during reporting. If newly allotted and not joining, security deposit is forfeited.
3Round 3 / Mop-Up Round
All remaining unjoined AIQ & State quota seats are pooled. Fresh registrations are permitted for unallotted candidates. Once allotted in Round 3, you MUST join, otherwise you will be debarred from NEET UG for 1 year.
4Online Stray Vacancy Round
Conducted centrally online by MCC for AIQ/Central/Deemed seats and state boards for state vacancies. No fresh registration for AIQ. Only candidates with unallotted status across India are eligible.
