About MD

A Doctor of Medicine (MD) is a three-year postgraduate medical degree for MBBS graduates who have completed their compulsory internship. It allows doctors to specialize deeply in a non-surgical branch of medicine, combining advanced clinical training with structured research work.

Admission to MD seats across India is primarily through NEET PG, followed by centralized or state-level counselling based on rank and category. A separate exam, INI-CET, governs admission to AIIMS, JIPMER, PGIMER, and other Institutes of National Importance. The program is structured around clinical postings in the first two years, followed by a thesis and senior residency responsibilities in the final year.
