West Bengal UG Medical & Dental 2026-27: Formal Commencement of Academic Session

The Directorate of Medical Education, Government of West Bengal has issued an official notification regarding the formal commencement of the UG Medical and Dental academic session 2026-27. As per the notice dated 10 September 2026, the formal academic session for undergraduate medical and dental courses in West Bengal will commence from 15 September 2026. The notification has been issued to the Directors, Principals and Deans of Government and Private Medical and Dental Colleges in West Bengal, directing the institutions to prepare their respective college-specific academic routines accordingly. The commencement date follows the NMC State Schedule for Commencement of Academic Session for UG Courses, published on 2 September 2026. The accompanying NEET-UG Schedule 2026 shows that Round 2 of All India Quota/Deemed/Central University counselling is scheduled from 3 September to 11 September 2026, while West Bengal State Counselling Round 2 runs from 7 September to 11 September 2026. The last date for joining under the relevant counselling schedule is 18 September 2026. Verification of joined candidates' data by state counselling authorities and MCC is scheduled for 19 September 2026. With the academic session officially beginning on 15 September 2026, NEET UG 2026 candidates allotted MBBS or BDS seats should closely follow the counselling, joining and verification timelines issued by the concerned authorities. The notification is particularly important for colleges as they are required to organize their academic activities in accordance with the commencement date.
