Inclusion of Additional MBBS Seats in Self-Financing Medical Colleges and Newly Permitted Medical College for Round 2 Online Counselling for MBBS/BDS Degree Courses (2026–27).
The Tamil Nadu Medical Selection Committee has issued an urgent notification regarding the inclusion of additional MBBS seats in the ongoing Round 2 online counselling for MBBS/BDS Degree Courses for the 2026–27 academic session. The notification states that the Selection Committee has received the required regulatory approvals/Letters of Permission from the competent authorities, including the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the concerned university, for increased MBBS intake and a newly established medical college.
A total of 250 additional MBBS seats have been added across three medical colleges. Madha Medical College and Hospital, Thandalam, Chennai has received an additional 50 seats, taking its approved intake to 250. Arunai Medical College and Hospital, Tiruvannamalai has also received 50 additional seats, taking its approved intake to 250.
The newly established APS Medical College Hospital, Mevaloorkuppam, Kancheepuram, has received permission for an initial intake of 150 MBBS seats through a new Letter of Permission (LoP).
These newly sanctioned seats have been directly included in the ongoing State Round 2 online counselling in the interest of candidates. Eligible candidates, including those who have already submitted their choices, can edit, reorder and add choices for these colleges. Seat allotment will be based on NEET UG 2026 State Rank, communal reservation and candidate preference choices
