KEAM Engineering Predictor FAQs
Is a lower or higher KEAM rank better?
A lower rank is better in KEAM Engineering, just like most rank-based entrance exams in India. If your rank is at or below the published closing rank for a college-branch-category combination, you had a realistic chance of getting that seat.
Why do I need to select my branch before entering my rank?
KEAM allocates seats branch-wise, and closing ranks vary hugely between branches (e.g. Computer Science closes much earlier than a less sought-after branch). Selecting your desired branch first ensures your rank is compared only against colleges offering that same branch.
What do the category codes mean?
SM is State Merit (open to everyone). The rest are Kerala's SEBC (socially/educationally backward classes) sub-categories — for example EZ is Ezhava, MU is Muslim, BH is Other Backward Hindu — plus SC, ST, EW, and special quotas like PI/PT (Sports) and SD/XS (Defence-related).
