IIT JAM Chemistry (CY) Cutoff & IIT Allocation

M.Sc. in Chemistry is one of the most competitive test papers in IIT JAM. Top institutes like IIT Bombay (Closing Rank ~34) and IIT Delhi (Closing Rank ~101) require top 100 ranks for General category candidates.

Established IIT Range: Ranks between 100 and 400 unlock seats at IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee.

Newer IIT Range: Ranks up to 600-800 can secure M.Sc. Chemistry in IIT Bhilai, IIT Palakkad, IIT Tirupati, and IIT Jammu.


IIT JAM Mathematics (MA) Cutoff & IIT Allocation

Mathematics test paper offers pure M.Sc. Mathematics as well as applied programs like M.Sc. in Mathematics and Computing or Operations Research.

What is JOAPS Counselling & Seat Allocation?

The JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) is the centralized seat allocation portal managed by the organising IIT. Candidates who qualify JAM with marks equal to or above the test paper cutoff are eligible to register on JOAPS.

During JOAPS registration, candidates choose their preferred programs across participating IITs. Seats are allotted strictly based on merit rank, category quota, eligibility requirements, and choice preference order across 5 sequential admission rounds.

Eligibility & Category Quotas in IIT JAM Admissions

All candidates who qualify IIT JAM can participate in JOAPS counselling. Individual IITs mandate subject-specific minimum educational qualifications (MEQs) and subject combinations in Bachelor's degree (e.g. Mathematics in 10+2 or Graduation for specific programs).

Category reservations are strictly followed as per Government of India norms: 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, 27% for OBC-NCL, and 10% for General-EWS, along with 5% horizontal reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwD).
